Heard From The Stage

Axl: I know that many of you are disappointed that some of the people that you came to know and love could not be with us here today. Regardless of what you have heard already, people worked very hard, meening my former friends, to do everything they could so that I could not be here today. I say fuck that. I am as hurt and disappointed as you, that unlike Oasis, we could not find a way to all get along. So I will begin to introduce the new band who have worked very very hard to come and see you today. This is my friend Paul Tobias. He has worked in the darkness underground for the last seven years to be able to be here today. I think this makes his fourth or fifth show altogether in his life. Without Paul there would be no more Guns N' roses. Along with Paul, the only man from the old line-up who has stayed loyal and worked hard every day, is on the keyboards - Mr. Dizzy Reed! Well, so much for the past. This is live and let die.

Axl: I will take this quick moment to introduce a brandnew friend of ours, on the drums - Brain.

Axl: I wanna introduce one of our new guitar players, he has a special song for you tonight. He worked very hard on it and he wants to show you how much he cares that you all came here tonight. Ladies and Gentleman, Mr. Robin Finck.

Axl: You know we have only done one show before this. And we have been already critisized for playing the old songs. But I have no intention and I never did of denying you something you enjoy. And I thought it was only fair for you to see that this new band can play the fuck out of these songs. It's very hard to ask a musician to learn to play the part or parts played by other musicians before them. These guys here have worked very hard. As for you guys, on lead guitar here we have Mr. Buckethead. You already met my friend Paul Tobia. On keyboards once again Mr. Dizzy Reed, on drums Barin and on the keyboards over Mr. Chris Pitman. And you met Robin Finck. And leading us through these rehearsals, General Mr. Tommy Stinson.

In Their Own Words

Axl: Las Vegas and Rio were very important for us.1

Axl: To make this again was very difficult, emotionally and mentally. To play the old songs for the experiences of the difficult times that I had in the past with the old band. But the new guys made it exciting. It is good to leave, but what we will make a bigger and a more prepared show. I think that it was well in Rio and it was very fun, but we want to be more prepared when we make the real tour.2

Axl: This band has played only been together for six weeks before Rio. So it is still very new for them to play together as band.3

Axl: Our management proposed us to come and play in Rio. It was a honor to play there. I mean, there were new songs, people didn't know the band, it is not the old band... And at any rate they came. That was very special and the show united the band.4

Axl: The whole show was very special. The public was very warm and receptive. The sound and the musical side didn't come out very well for the band, but it was very exciting for us to know that we could make such a big show that was very new for all. It was something very important for the new band.5

Axl: It was amazing to play for the people, it was amazing that the people were that, were so happy and so excited. It was. It worked for the band and I was very proud of them. I thought that they did very well. And it was very fun for me to play with the new band.6

Axl: The public was very warm and receptive. The sound and the musical side didn't come out very well for the band, but it was very exciting for us to know that we could make such a big show that was very new for all. It was something very important for the new band.7

Axl: Tommy Stinson worked very well taking the band through the rehearsals for Las Vegas and Rock In Rio.8

Izzy: I'm happy, in any case, that he had concerts in the beginning of the year in Las Vegas and Rio. I'm happy that his microphone worked okay. Who knows, he might have left the stage otherwise.9
