The old days: London
November 11, 2006

So prior to Guns N' Roses, there was Hollywood Rose, prior to Hollywood Rose, there was Rose. But in between Hollywood Rose and Hollywood Rose, there was London!

That might seem strange, but Hollywood Rose broke up one day in August, 1984. Axl got mad and left. Izzy joined a band Slash was already in, London. And to add to this, Steven Adler was also a member. Furthermore, they wanted to add a singer we all know - but were adviced against doing so. By Izzy!

The truth is that this is hidden history. In this band, three of the original five played a part. So why is it forgotten? The answer is they never played a big part!

Slash was only a member for a few months. Band guitarist Lizzie Gray later said "Slash (I knew him as "Sol") was only in London for a few months. He was a nice person with a genuine love for rock and roll. I jammed with him a few times at his house off of Fairfax, and I thought his playing style was a lot like Joe Perry of Aerosmith. Unfortunately, he was having a lot of equipment problems while trying to work with London, and Nadir ended up letting him go. As far as what the world knows of Slash as a crazed rocker, I'm pretty sure it's more PR than anything."

Izzy for his part played in the band the longest of the three. He ended up leaving after sleeping with the singer's (Nadir D'Priest) girlfriend, and then being beaten up when the D'Priest found out.

And finally, about Axl, Grey said: "I wanted him to replace John Ward, but Izzy said that he was very difficult to work with. Some irony there!"
