Charlie Quintana was born in 1961, and grew up in the smalltown El Paso, TX, on the border to Mexico. He got interested in music at a young age and said his supportive parents and teachers at school helped him move forward with music.

At the age of 16, Charlie moved to Los Angeles to join The Plugz (later they changed their name to Cruzados). "The deal with The Plugz was to rehearse for a month, do a show at the end of the month at the Whiskey and if I wanted to go they would send me back home and if I wanted to stay I would be welcome to stay and of course I stayed. I wasn't a runaway but I had my parents support which I find incredible because I have a 14 year old daughter now and there's now way I would let her go, you know, but it's a different world now."

Cruzados released two albums, 1985's "Cruzados" and 1987's "After Dark", which recieved praise from the likes of Billy Idol, John Fogerty and Bob Dylan (who even recorded harmonica for one of their songs). Eventually the band split up.

After Cruzados, Charlie formed his own band, the Havalines. The band got a deal with Electra and released one album, "The Havalines", before they split up. Charlie was then hired in by Bob Dylan to do a tour with him.

After Izzy Stradlin left Guns N' Roses, he was trying to put together another band. Charlie was picked as the drummer and their selftitled debut, "Izzy Stradlin & The Ju Ju Hounds", was released in 1992. The Ju Ju Hounds started recording their follow up in 1995, but Izzy soon got tired of music and the band split up.

Charlie then joined Cracker and toured with them, as well as recording 1996's "Golden Age". He also played with Joan Osbourne and had a brief stint with Soul Asylum before he joined Mike Ness on tour. After the tour, Charlie joined Social Distortion which was Ness' main project. Mike and Charlie went in studio soon and started working on an album, which was released in 2004, with the title "Sex, Love and Rock N Roll"

Quotes

"I love doing the shows but I hate all the rest of it. I mean you gotta do it and its fun to play but I hate being away from my family. I've been doing it for over 20 years so I haven't seen anything different from when I first started."
