| Ian McLagan was born May 12,
1945 in Hounslow, Middlesex in England. He was a member of Boz and the Boz People before
he made it big when he joined Small Faces in November, 1965. The band also featured
bassist Ronnie Lane, guitarist/singer Steve Marriot and drummer Kenney Jones. In 1969 Steve Marriott left the band to play with Peter Frampton in Humble Pie. Ronnie Lane also left the band to play with Ronnie Wood in a project he had just started. Dissatisfied with the results, they soon scrapped the projects but kept on writing together. Soon Ian McLagan and Kenney Jones found themself jaming with the rest, completing what they thought would be the new line-up for Small Faces. The band started rehearsing, often at the Rolling Stones' complex in Bermondsley, where Wood's friend Rod Stewart would stop by to check out the band. Stewart, impressed by the band, soon found himself singing with them. As a result of a total line-up change, the band changed name to The Faces. The band stayed together for 6 years, but in 1975, Rod Stewart quit, while Ronnie Wood left to join the Rolling Stones. Ian McLagan released his debut solo album in 1979, titled "Troublemaker". The album was followed by "Bump In The Night" the next year. The two albums did not sell very well and he soon scrapped the idea of being a solo artist and rather did session work and was a back up musician for other artists, such as Bob Dylan, Bruce Springsteen, Joe Cocker and the Rolling Stones. In 2000 he released his third solo album, "Best Of British" with the Bump Band. His fourth solo album "Rise and Shine" followed in 2004. Ian McLagan also appeared on the Ju Ju Hound's "Izzy Stradlin & The Ju Ju Hounds", released in 1992, as well as Izzy Stradlin's "River" (2001) and "On Down The Road" (2002).
