George Marino was born and raised in Bronx, NY, where he started his carreer in the music business as a musician. Marino played guitar, but never got anywhere with it. His first job in the music business was as a librarian and assistant at Capitol Studios in New York in 1967. He later started mastering albums. Marino moved to the Record Plant when Capitol shut down their studio in New York. George joined Sterling in the summer of 1973.

George Marino has mastered thousands of albums in his career, including Guns N' Roses' "Appetite For Destruction", "Use Your Illusion" volume I and II and "The Spaghetti Incident?". Marino has also mastered albums by artists like Jimi Hendrix, Led Zeppelin, Stevie Wonder, AC/DC, John Lennon, Aerosmith, Queen, Iron Maiden, Metallica, Bon Jovi, Duff McKagan, Colplay, Lenny Kravitz and Velvet Revolver.
