Doug Goldstein was born in 1961. He got interested in music early, and started playing guitar when he was 5. His father was a police officer, making Doug interested in that as well. Doug started working with events security and in 1984, he was the chief security recruiter for the 1984 Olympic Games.

Following this, Doug completed a University degree in Marketing and Management and started working for bands like Van Halen, David Lee Roth, Black Sabbath and Heat. From 1987, he was a tour manager for Guns N' Roses.

Doug was promoted to the manager spot in 1991, as Alan Niven was fired. "Dougie's done a lot of stuff in the last couple of years," Izzy said. "He's the guy who now gets to go over to Axl's at six in the morning when his piano's hanging out at the window of his house. All kind of shit like that. Now we get these fuckin' calls - 'You hear what happened?' No, what now? 'Axl just smashed his $50,000 grand piano out the fuckin' picture-window of his new house.' That's nice, Dougie. You just take care of it. Call me when it's all over".

In 2003, Doug was fired as manager of Guns N' Roses, and he was replaced by Merck Mercuriadis.
