Eric Dover was born January 19, 1967. He grew up in Jasper, Alabama, where he developed an interest for music at an early age. His older sister introduced him to several artists, like Alice Cooper and Bad Company, and Eric picked up the guitar at age 11.

Eric soon found himself playing in various small bands and with various smaller artists over the next years, before he joined Love Bang in the late 80s. He stayed with Love Bang till 1993, when he heard Jellyfish had an open spot for a guitarist. Eric sent some tapes to the band and was asked to audition. He soon joined the band, and did a tour with them.

When Jellyfish split up the next year, Eric formed his own band, Imperial Drag. The band also featured Roger Manning from Jellyfish. They went to Los Angeles to work on some songs, hoping they could do another record for Virgin. After 20-30 demos recorded, they were offered  a deal with Work Records instead. The guys signed the contract, and then recruited Eric Skodis and Joseph Karnes. "We got the other guys just by word of mouth and auditions," Dover later said.

The project did however not last long as Eric was asked to join Slash's Snakepit as their singer shorly after. Eric contacted Manning about this. "It came at a time when Roger said 'I can't offer you anything,' and here I was in L.A. with really no place to live. I was like, 'Hmmm, I think I'd like to sing.'" So Dover went to studio with Snakepit, and recorded "It's Five O' Clock Somewhere" (which Dover co-wrote most of) and then the band headed out on a worldwide tour. "I had a great time," Dover said." It was a good chance to look inside and see what that kind of rock 'n' roll was about."

After the end of the tour, Eric returned to work with Imperial Drag to record their selftitled debut album, which was released on May 7, 1996 - with good reviews in the press. The band also recorded a follow up that wasn't released.

Besides playing with Imperial Drag, Dover also joined Alice Cooper on tour, and he played on Alice's "Dragontown", released in 2003. Eric was a member of Glam Nation, a cover band that  featured Eric Singer, Teddy Andreadis and Ryan Roxie, besides Eric. Eric is also one of the many few who has gotten his name in the Guiness Book of World Records for having the largest mouth span of any singer on the planet.
